Calling All Indie Game Designers

                                                            The Nightmare Man
Jennifer’s bosoms heaved as she stood against the tree, panting, like Cerberus. Her white, collared shirt was torn across the front exposing her tight midriff. Her legs were bare and caked with mud. She staggered through the woods. Her eyes were glazed and her runner’s legs were shaky. She heard twigs crunch underfoot. She turned around and screamed when she saw the madman who had been chasing after her standing behind her. He wore blue, jeans, a flannel shirt, black boots and a black skeleton mask. His eyes were dark brown and they looked rather sinister behind the mask as they stared into Jennifer’s soul. He held the sheers in his hand and he snapped the blades of the sheers together menacingly.
Jennifer turned around and she continued to run. Her legs pumped furiously as she tried to outrun the husky maniac. She emerged from the woods and stepped out onto a back country road located next to a diner. Jennifer ran into the diner. She took a couple steps forward and lost consciousness. She awoke an hour later. When she awoke she found a crowd of people surrounding her. A red haired nurse named Flo held her hand while an elderly man named Albert examined her. ‘’Are you alright dear,’’ Albert asked.
Jennifer shook her head. ‘’No someone is after me,’’ Jennifer said hoarsely.
‘’Who’s after you dear,’’ Flo asked.
‘’The Nightmare Man,’’ Jennifer said in a whisper.
‘’Who on Earth is the nightmare man,’’ Flo asked.
‘’He’s a psychopath that hunts you down in your dreams and murders you,’’ Jennifer blurted out.
The crowd surrounding Jennifer shot each other weird, puzzled looks. ‘’Come on dear who is really after you,’’ Albert said in a soothing voice.
‘’I am telling the truth,’’ Jennifer shouted.
‘’I said Nightmare Man, Nightmare Man come get me if you can in my dream just like the urban legend says and now he is after me; don’t you believe me?’’
‘’I think you’ve suffered a trauma maybe you should lie down dear,’’ Flo suggested.
Jennifer stood up and gave Flo a hard shove. ‘’I’m telling the truth Goddammit why won’t anybody believe me,’’ Jennifer screamed.
The lights shut off for a few moments and when they came back on Jennifer and Flo found themselves surrounded by dead bodies. Flo stared in open mouthed amazement at the psycho in the skull mask standing before her. The killer plunged the blades of the sheers into Flo’s stomach. He lifted the waitress off the ground dangled her up in the air like a macabre trophy. Flo’s white slip on shoes fell to the ground as her toes curled up in spasmodic, convulsive movements.
Blood dripped from the dying woman’s lips as the killer shook the woman hard. He shook her harder and harder and the woman slid further down the blade until the end of her spine popped off and hit the floor. Jennifer ran out the front door. The Nightmare Man removed his blade from the woman’s stomach and allowed her to drop to the floor like a piece of bloody chalk. Jennifer ran out in front of a car and the car slammed on its breaks.
The driver rolled down the window to his Buick Century and screamed at her. ‘’What the Hell’s wrong with you are you trying to get yourself killed or something,’’ the man asked.
‘’There’s a fucking maniac trying to kill me that’s what’s the matter,’’ Jennifer blurted out.

‘’Holy shit in that case you better get in this car right now,’’ the driver said.
Jennifer climbed into the car and the car sped off. Lightning flashed across the sky and it began raining suddenly and heavily. The windshield wipers beat against the windshield as the driver struggled to see in the heavy rain. ‘’Who’s this maniac that’s after you anyway,’’ The man said.
‘’You wouldn’t believe me if I told you anyway,’’ Jennifer said.
  ‘’You believe in ghosts kid?’’
  ‘’No why,’’ Jennifer snapped.
The driver pulled out a cigarette from his breast pocket and placed it in his mouth. Would you hand me that lighter out of the glove compartment,’’ The man asked.
Jennifer’s hand trembled as she reached out and opened the glove compartment. She handed the man his golden lighter. ‘’You do now,’’ the driver proclaimed.
The driver lit himself on fire with the lighter. Jennifer jumped out of the car and tripped and rolled into a ditch. When she looked back the car and the burning man was both, gone. Jennifer stood up and meandered through the grass on the side of the road. The road stretched ceaselessly ahead and the landscape on the side of the road was flat and grassy. By now the rain had turned red and tasted coppery.
‘’For Christ sakes it’s raining blood,’’ a terrified Jennifer exclaimed.
Her hair and face and entire body began to feel sticky with blood. She felt the anger well up inside of her. Jennifer clenched her fist and gritted her teeth. ‘’Where are you, you, chicken shit, I’m right here come and get me,’’ Jennifer screamed.
She stood still on the side of the road with her arms outstretched. She was tired of running away from this creep. The nightmare man appeared in front of her .He was twenty yards ahead of her and he stood still as he looked at his prey. Jennifer walked hurriedly towards him and the Nightmare Man walked hurriedly toward his victim. His sheers dripped with blood and gore as he snapped the blades of the sheers together menacingly.
Jennifer and the killer soon stood face to face. The sheers hung by the killer’s side. Jennifer grabbed the maniac by the shoulders and she kneed him in the groin hard. The killer dropped the sheers to the ground and doubled over. He dropped to the ground and Jennifer scrambled for the sheers. She climbed on top of the killer and jammed the blades of the sheers into his stomach. He let out a muffled grunt under his skeleton mask. His eyes rolled back into his head and he closed his eyes.
Jennifer stood up and meandered down the side of the road. When she got thirty yards ahead of the killer the maniac removed the sheers from his stomach and slowly rose. Blood dripped from the massive wound in his stomach as he sauntered after his victim silently.
